Shark Week 2020 Full schedule and a virtual preshow with the stars.

Shark flying through the air

Shark week 2020 is fast approaching and there will be some real winners this year. Celebrity appearances this year include Mike Tyson, Will Smith, Shaquille O’Neal and Snoop Dogg.

Along with the celebrity shenanigans, we will see appearance by several highly respected people in the shark world, including Chris Fallows, an expert on white sharks with the largest database of predatory events involving the white shark; cinematographer and shark week regular Andy Casagrande; expert shark tagger and master of the Massachusetts white shark Dr. Greg Skomal of the Massachusetts Division of the Marine Fisheries; and the Shark Doctor himself, Dr. Craig O’Connell.

Speaking of those respected scientists of the shark world, several are taking part in the Stars of Shark Week Virtual Event with the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy.

You can get a jump on shark week by participating in the virtual event that starts Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. ET. The cost is $25, and it is 100% tax deductible, and it gives you an entry into winning the chance to name your very own shark.

Not only will you hear directly from leaders in the shark field, but you will also be directly supporting the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy. The group supports multiple long-term research project that seek to enhance our understanding of white sharks, offers public education programs, and have worked with local, state and federal officials by providing the best scientific data for policies and measures related to public safety.

When is the last time we had a good shark week? They recycle Air Jaws 12 and we get it. Why not looking into Reunion Island and why that area is off-the-hook for sharks or any number of other new topics. Find more interesting topics instead of the same programming year in and year out on Great Whites. Not really pushing any envelopes and seriously 6 years since they had more than one or two shows that were interesting and new? If you are digging the format then cool for you but I would prefer something with more bite.
